Hiking holidays Alpine Panorama Trail Lake Geneva TO
Hiking: Alpine Panorama Trail
From Lavaux to the Jet d'Eau
The scenery on Lake Geneva is probably one of the most beautiful that Switzerland has to offer. Dreamy wine-growing villages in Lavaux, surrounded by vineyards, market towns with imposing castles and finally the Jet d'Eau, which welcomes you to the lively city of Geneva.
All this is framed by a unique view of the snow-covered peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. A hike like a painting, brushstroke by brushstroke a pleasure!
An enjoyable hike through the steep vineyards of Lavaux, which have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. On the way you will meet the ancient winegrowing villages of St-Saphorin, Rivaz, Epesses and the pretty little towns of Cully and Lutry on Lac Léman.
Without the slightest ascent and yet with a wonderful view of the Savoy Alps, you walk from the Lausanne port of Ouchy along a wide riverside path to the old town of Morges with its defiant castle and the former Bernese war port.
First along the lakeshore, then across meadows and fields, through sparse forests, past vineyards and villages, castles and villas to the medieval town of Aubonne. An intermediate stop is made at the Wakker Prize-winning St-Prex on Lake Geneva. Return to Morges by bus.
Take the bus back to Aubonne. A morning of panoramic views through the vineyards and wine villages of La Côte in the Vaud and a shady afternoon along the Serine creek and in the evening a visit to the castle of Prangins and the medieval town of Nyon.
From the busy, built-up shore area, the trail swings into the flat hinterland between Lake Geneva and the Jura with its dreamy villages, old castles, secluded streams, sparse oak forests and cultivated fields.
The last stage has two very different faces: in the morning pure nature, in the afternoon total urbanisation. The hike along the forest stream Versoix is a pure nature experience and the arrival at the Quai du Mont-Blanc a proud moment.
