The essentials at a glance

A moderate 3-day cycling tour from Vevey to Thun through the Fribourg and Bernese Oberland regions. Discover the home of Gruyère cheese, cycle through the picturesque Pays-d'Enhaut and Saanenland with traditional chalets and Alpine peaks, and follow the Simme river to Lake Thun. Daily distances range from 40-61 km with daily luggage transfers and breakfast included.

Pure, idyllic alps

The Lakes-Route deserves its name, because many lakes touch the route from its beginning at Lake Geneva to its goal at Lake Lucerne.

The Route leads through some outstanding touristic regions with great sounding names: Montreux, Gruyères, Gstaad and Thun… Whoever completes the Lakes-Route, has seen the most beautiful corners of Switzerland.

Itinerary

Luggage drop-off in Vevey. Cycle along quiet roads to the home of Switzerland's most popular cheese, Gruyère. The Gruyère region will enchant you with its mild to pungent symphony of green melancholy, cheerful cowbells and fascinating traditions.

Tour character

Along the lakes between Montreux and Thun, the route is of course smooth and flat – but between the lakes there are some minor passes to cross: Less athletic cyclists are recommended to use an electric bike which is well suited for this route. Athletic cyclists use the touring bikes.

Arrival by train

Leave your car at home! For every cycling, biking, or hiking tour in Switzerland, each participant receives an SBB coupon that grants a CHF 10 discount on their train ticket for the journey. The discount can be redeemed in the SBB online shop or via the SBB app.

For many trips, we use luggage counters at train stations at the beginning and end of the journey for convenient baggage drop-off and collection. This can easily be combined with your train travel. If you have a GA travelcard, you can indicate this when booking, and we will credit the amount to your invoice.

If you don’t use the coupon for your trip, you can redeem it later in the year. Please note that retroactive refunds are not possible for administrative reasons.
