Racing Bike: hidden treasures at Oberwallis

The most beautiful routes of the Swiss Alps

Impressive stone dams, breath-taking rides through passes and idyllic Walser villages – surrounded by the most beautiful and highest mountain peaks of the Swiss Alps, biking dreams come true in Wallis. Starting from Leuk, discover the Pfyn-Finges nature park and the wonderful Moosalp.

The tour continues into the Goms, high up to sparkling dam lakes and alpine worlds of rock and ice. The ride over the Alpine passes is one of the most beautiful racing bike tours in Switzerland. One highlight follows another in Valais

  • 7 Days / 6 Nights

First a leisurely ride along the Rhone till the roofs of Sierre come into sight. Now it gets! You ride through the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park up to Agarn and then follow the long Turtmann Valley.

Then it’s a relaxing ride again down into the Rhone valley, before a last ascent to Leuk concludes today's tour.

The ride from Leuk to Brig could be very easy – but it is not. You soon leave the Rhone-biking path, to climb up the serpentine road to Moosal.

Enjoy the view and take deep breaths at the top: the descent to Visperterminen is going to rob your breath soon. You then pass saffron-growing village of Mund to reach Brig.

You can rest your tired legs some today. A ride brings you high up to the Gibidum reservoir. The imposing stoned am is at the foot of the Aletsch glacier directly above the Massa gorge.

Follow the course of the Rhone with renewed energy. The Walser villages in Goms are waiting to be discovered as if strung on a string of pearls.

You arrive in Oberwald, but the tour is not over yet. The Grimsel Pass is only a stone's throw away for sport cyclists.

The most beautiful Alpine passes can be reached quickly from Oberwald. You climb high into the rocky world of the Nufenen pass and whoosh down to Airolo. The following ride up to Gotthard Pass is over cobblestones along the countless serpentine curves and challenges you.

You can relax while descending to Hospental. And then it's time for a challenge again, because the Furka Pass at the end of the journey is really tough.

approx. 100 km

You follow the Rhone route again at the beginning, and it leads you past the most beautiful villages of the Goms. However, the tour is not quite that easy, as a detour into the Binn Valley is on the agenda.

The picturesque return journey to Leuk is the successful conclusion of your journey through Upper Valais.

A unique scenery awaits you in Valais. Surrounded by the most beautiful and highest peaks of the Swiss Alps, you will visit some of the most famous valleys and passes of Switzerland.

You ride on asphalted roads throughout your journey. Some traffic must be taken into account near town and city centres. The ride over the Alpine passes on the fifth day poses a significant challenge in terms of fitness.
