The Rigi rises above Lake Lucerne to the north, while the two peaks of the Mythen watch over the Schwyz foothills to the east. This picturesque region is made for exploring on two wheels. Your bike tour through central Switzerland starts at the lake shore in Beckenried and you glide up to Klewenalp with the cable car.
A strenuous tour finally takes you to the idyllic Muota valley. Winding roads and trails await you on the next day while travelling over the Stoos to Schwyz. The rail tour through the Schywz summits is a classic and the journey around the Mythen mountains and high up Rigi does not lack highlights. Central Switzerland is a real experience for bikers.
Cable car ride up to Klewenalp. You circumvent Klewenstock and ride over marshy meadows on to Stockhütte. A lively trail brings you down to Emmetten. You now have to earn the next descent.
The climb to Brennwald will definitely cost you a some sweat, but then the view of Lake Uri while descending to the lakeshore will definitely steal your breath. The boat brings you down to Brunnen and the day ends with a comfortable tour in the Muota valley.
The path out of Muota valley winds its way up over hairpin bends to Wannentritt. Grosser Mythen comes into view as soon as you cross the pass, and shows you the way to the mountain village of Stoos. Take a short break there, because the descent through the Stooswald is steep and strenuous. A magnificent view over the valley basin of Schwyz and over Lake Lucerne and Lake Uri awaits you on the last few meters.
You ride to Schwyz and begin the rail tour through the Mythen region. This route is a scenic delight: the mighty Mythen, Druesberg, the Roggenstock and other snowy Alpine peaks as well as a clear view towards Zurich and Central Switzerland. Flowing single trails bring you from one mountain rail to the other, till you finally arrive in Schwyz again.
In the morning, the train will bring you back up to Rotenflue, from where you begin circumventing Grosser and Kleiner Mythen. You descend to Brunni through the Zwäckentobel and then again climb steep uphill to Haggenegg.
A brisk descent brings you back to Schwyz, where the Rigi chain of hills towers before you. The ride up to the Urmiberg is tough, but your efforts pay off at the latest at the Gatterlipass. Afterwards you descend rapidly into the valley to Gersau. Boat trip back to Beckenried.
