Arrival in Wolhusen
Wolhusen - Luthernbad
Luggage drop-off in Wolhusen. Many roads lead to the Napf - but no road! One of the most beautiful accesses to the summit is the scenic ridge above Menzberg. You can postpone the ascent to the summit until tomorrow. Turn off shortly before the last ascent and spend the night in Luthernbad.
The panorama from the Napf to the Alps, the Mittelland and the Jura is one of the most magnificent in Switzerland. A perfect panoramic trail through the typical hilly landscapes of the unspoilt Emmental! In constant ups and downs, the route leads along a mostly wide range of hills from the Napf, past small farms, Alps and through forests to Lüderenalp.
Lüderenalp - Moosegg
In the heart of the Emmental, the route leads over a long mountain ridge with scattered farms and plenty of views down into the wide valley of the Grosse Emme, then up to the equally scenic Moosegg.
Moosegg - Münsingen
The villages become bigger, the hills rounder and lower, but the view remains the same. After a short ascent to Blasenfluh, the continuation of the path is almost just a leisurely walk downhill to the wide Aare valley near Münsingen.
Münsingen - Rüeggisberg
From the Aare valley over the Belpberg, which stands like a huge island in the landscape, into the vegetable country Gürbetal and up the Längenberg to the impressive ruins of the Rüeggisberg monastery. Again and again magnificent views of the Bernese Alps.
Rüeggisberg - Guggisberg
A last view of the ice-crowned Bernese Alps, then down into the Schwarzwassergraben to the oldest concrete arch bridge in the world. From the Schwarzenburg Plateau through meadows and forests to the scenic Guggershörnli with its famous Vreneli.
Guggisberg – Schwarzsee
From the Bernese farming village of Guggisberg down to the dreamy hamlet of Hirschmatt; over a wooded range of hills into the primeval Sensegraben near Zollhaus, across into the canton of Fribourg and along the Warmen Sense to the Schwarzsee holiday centre. Individual departure after arrival at Schwarzsee.
The ascent to the Napf is steep and you need to be in good physical condition for the hike. Since the ascent is northwards, the paths up to the Napf are often wet and slippery. Otherwise you walk on well developed and easy to walk paths.
