Hiking: Valaisan Sun Trail
The sun is high in the sky and the dry earth crunches beneath your hiking boots. It is a hot day in Valais and the Sonnenweg lives up to its name. Luckily, you can spend the evening after the long trek on the first day in the spas of Leukerbad.
Arrival to Crans-Montana
Pleasant hike from Montana along the Bisse du Tsittoret, past inviting mountain inns into the valley of the Tièche. Then on a sunny slope over Varneralp to Leukerbad, where weary hikers can relax in the warm thermal spa.
Leukerbad – Steg VS
An age-old trail leads to the quaint village of Albinen in a superb location above the Dalaschlucht (gorge); along the way, the ancient hamlets of Brentschen, Engersch and Jeizinen also sit on the sunny slope, linked by peaceful hiking paths.
Panoramic hike on high-level BLS railway Südrampe (south ramp). Popular classic hike beside the Lötschberg Railway tracks to imposing Bietschtal bridge. Lovely path beside historic water channels (suonen) to hanging bridge; superb views at Brägji and Riedgarten. From Ausserberg by train to Brig.
From Brig by train back to Ausserberg. Suonen (irrigation channels) and the BLS railway line accompany this stage. Impressive view of the Baltschieder viaduct. Pipes for irrigating the dry south-facing slopes line the route. Information columns on the BLS Südrampe section and Swiss Guards Museum provide fascinating information. After arrival in Brig, luggage collection at the hotel and individual departure.
Tour character
The paths are well developed and easy to walk on, only the first stage is a little more difficult. However, the Valais Sun Trail is challenging because of the long stages and the many metres of altitude difference that have to be overcome each time. Good basic fitness and a head for heights are required for the suspension bridges and albine ladders on the second day.

- The long first stage can be shortened with an optional bus ride from Crans-Montana to Aminona, trip not included in the price of the journey (approx. CHF 2.- with half fare card)

Arrival by train:
Leave the car at home! For every bike, biking or hiking tour in Switzerland, you will receive an SBB coupon per participant, which you can use to deduct CHF 10 from the ticket price for traveling by train. The reduction can be obtained in the SBB online store or in the SBB app.
On many trips, we use the luggage counters at the stations at the beginning and at the end to hand over the suitcases. You can conveniently combine this right away when you arrive by train. If you are a GA owner, you can provide this information when booking. We will credit you the amount on the invoice. If you don't need the coupon for the trip itself, you can use it during the year. Unfortunately, a retroactive refund is not possible for administrative reasons.

In advance you will receive a small package of documents with the following contents:

The Eurotrek Travel Guide App will help you find your way around. In addition to your digital map, you will find further information about your booked trip. The app is also available offline, simply download the trip in advance.
