Itinerary

Arrival in Airolo and luggage drop-off, followed by a cable car ride to Alp Pesciüm. From there the tour leads on a splendid high trail into the Val Bedretto. In the distance, the Gotthard pass with its old Tremola pass road can be seen.

After about 4.5 hours you reach the Alpe di Folcra, which invites you to take a break. The path continues to the hamlet of San Giaccomo. From where the stage destination, the Capanna Corno Gries, is already within reach.

Today you cross the border to Italy. From the Gries Pass the path winds down to the Italian reservoir Lago di Morasco. Once you reach the bottom, it's time for another climb. Over glacial moraines the path continues up to the Passo di Nefelgiu.

All around nothing but rock and debris. Only chamois, marmots or with a bit of luck ibexes keep you company here. After a difficult descent you reach Lago Vannino. At the eastern end of this reservoir sits enthroned the Rifugio Margaroli.

After the previous difficult stages, today you will overcome only one pass. From the Rifugio, a spectacular path leads first alongside Lago Vannino, then further up to Scatta Minoia.

After a short descent to the plateau of Alpe Forno Inferiore, you will return to Switzerland at the Albrun Pass. After arriving in Valais, the descent follows through the Binntal valley until the trip reaches its end in the main town of Binn.

On many trips, we use the luggage counters at the stations at the beginning and at the end to hand over the suitcases. You can conveniently combine this right away when you arrive by train. If you are a GA owner, you can provide this information when booking. We will credit you the amount on the invoice. If you don't need the coupon for the trip itself, you can use it during the year.
