Murten – Fribourg
The journey starts from the medieval town of Murten along Lake Schiffenen and goes across contemplative, gently waved landscapes, to the gothic houses of Fribourg .
Founded in 1157 by Duke Berthold IV of Zaehringen, the town, nestled in the meanders of its river, the Sarine, is recognized as one of the largest ensembles of medieval architecture in Europe. Thanks to more than 200 gothic façades from the 15th century, the city has maintained its medieval charm until today. Ever since the bilingual city keeps the exchange of cultures alive.
Fribourg – Gruyères
Lovely is the landscape around the Gruyère Lake, land of the double cream of La Gruyère and of the black-white specked cows. The Maison Cailler, the Swiss Chocolate Factory, in Broc is very close to Gruyères. A marvelous pedestrian town with its busy touristic hustle and bustle.
Gruyères – Murten
Romont, a medieval town on the top of a hill, is well known for the Swiss Museum of Stained Glass and Glass Art. After Romont, the route offers a wide range of impressions: from the hilly countryside to the Three-Lakes Region, via the historical town of Avenches and Murten.
Equipped with a ball and a golf club, you are going to discover the Golf-Safari around Lake Murten. Sporty golfers play the whole round and enjoy the view from the Mount Vully. But it is also possible to do a part of the course. Departure is individual.
The round trip through Fribourg Region stretches from the flat Three-Lakes Region into the Pre-Alps foothills.
The waters of Lake Schiffenen and Lake Gruyère ensure that the cycle stages are mostly flat and easy-going, so you can enjoy the tour without greater effort.
