Arrival in Gstaad

After your technical training on the Rellerli with a guide, you can look forward to a tour featuring plenty of singletrack riding. Starting in Schönried, you ride to Gruben before tackling a steep climb up to Alp Berschel on the slopes of the Hornflueh. Soon, the singletrack fun begins. While a little technical skill is required in some sections, most of the trails are easy to ride. Via the Horneggli valley station, you continue on to Gstaad.

Today begins with a ride over the small pass near Saanenmöser to Zweisimmen. Alternatively, you can comfortably shorten this section by taking the train. From Zweisimmen, a long ascent on quiet side roads leads to the Jaun Pass. Open conifer forests and protected moorland landscapes characterize the transition from the Simmental to the Gruyère region.

You cycle up to Oberenegg on alpine trails, then follow high-altitude paths along the Hundsrügg to Bire and on to Rellerli. The spectacular limestone peaks of the Gastlosen rise dramatically into the sky, while the majestic Bernese Oberland mountains greet you from the south. The trail descent back into the valley is pure riding pleasure.

From Gstaad, you cycle along the Louwibach to the idyllic mountain village of Lauenen, with its charming historic wooden chalets. Species-rich meadows line the route above the sun-drenched Sunnigi Louwene. An alpine road takes you up to the Trütlisberg Pass, with the mighty three-thousand-metre peaks of the Wildhorn and Oldenhorn seemingly within reach.

On the far side of the pass, the landscape becomes more rugged and wild as you enter the romantic Turbach Valley. The scenery grows increasingly lush as you follow trails and alpine roads along the Turbach back down to Gstaad.

The cable car takes you up to the Wispile mountain station. From there, you cycle along the panoramic Wispile ridge to Chrinetritt. After a short descent, you climb up to the Chrine Pass. With views of Louwenehore and Lauenen, you follow singletrails through open forests and across gentle meadows down to Lauenen. A detour takes you to the protected Lauenensee lake. From there, you ride along flowing trails through the wild and romantic Rohr valley back to Lauenen and continue on to Gstaad.

For this tour in the Pays-d’Enhaut, you start in Gstaad and cycle via Saanen to Rougemont. You ride through the picturesque valley to Château-d’Oex, a mecca for hot-air ballooning. The route follows the wild Sarine River, with views of the Vaud Alps. Along the way, Rossinière enchants with the ornate façades of its historic chalets; the Grand Chalet was once home to the eccentric painter Balthus.

After a break at Lac du Vernex reservoir, you cycle back to Gstaad through the gentle pre-Alpine landscape. This varied tour repeatedly takes you along singletrack sections.

Tour character

This tour calls for good fitness, with some longer climbs and descents along the way. The trails are varied and flowing, but solid technique is needed to enjoy a relaxed ride down into the valley
