This family friendly hike leads from one cottage to the next. You sleep in the hay and in cosy family rooms and enjoy the hospitality high up on the Alp.

Itinerary

The tour from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock is one of the most panoramic hikes in Switzerland. Unique views of Lake Lucerne and the nearby rock pyramids of the Mythen peak await you today. After the hike, you descend through the Stooswald forest to Brunnen on the shores of Lake Lucerne.

Before you strap on the hiking boots you have to proof your skill and craftsmanship. You visit the museum of Victorinoxwhere you can assemble your own Swiss pocket knife. Afterwardsyou are well equipped to start your hiking tour. Take the cable railway up to the Urmiberg and accompanied by wonderful views of the lake of Lucerne, you make your way to your first mountain Inn on the Rigi.

Today you can expect more great views. On a panorama path you walk down to Hiterenboden and then back up to the peak of the Rigi. From here you have great views of all of central Switzerland. In every direction you can see a different lake. In Rigi Kaltbad, you can try your luck in the most beautiful minigolf course of the Alps.

You hike along the rack railway down to Rigi Kaltbach and to the Müseralp. A panorama path leads you past the Räbalp to the Seebodenalp. You have a great view of the lake basin of Küssnacht and the Pilatus. By cablecar down to Küssnacht am Rigi and by train to Merlischachen.

You walk through the small city of Küssnacht at the Rigi and then hike up to the Ferrenmoos. On the way you pass a little pond where you can make a fire in the fireplace. Once you are back at the Lake of Lucerne you take the bus to the city of Lucerne.

Information

Arrival/Departure:

  • Arrival by public transport to Arth-Goldau. If you arrive directly, hand in your luggage at the luggage counter by 10 a.m. at the latest.
  • Departure by public transport from Lucerne. In case of direct departure, luggage must be returned to the luggage counter by 5 p.m. at the latest. 
Arrival by train:
Leave the car at home! For every bike, biking or hiking tour in Switzerland, you will receive an SBB coupon per participant, which you can use to deduct CHF 10 from the ticket price for traveling by train. The reduction can be obtained in the SBB online store or in the SBB app.
On many trips, we use the luggage counters at the stations at the beginning and at the end to hand over the suitcases. You can conveniently combine this right away when you arrive by train. If you are a GA owner, you can provide this information when booking. We will credit you the amount on the invoice. If you don't need the coupon for the trip itself, you can use it during the year. Unfortunately, a retroactive refund is not possible for administrative reasons.

The Eurotrek Travel Guide App will help you find your way around. In addition to your digital map, you will find further information about your booked trip. The app is also available offline, simply download the trip in advance.

Schöne Wanderferien um den Rigi
Nachdem die erste Hürde mit der Gepäckübernahme bei der Stoosbahn dann doch noch geklappt hat konnten wir die Wanderung in Angriff nehmen. Der Eurotrek Mitarbeiter hat am Bahof Schwyz gewartet (war bei ihm auch so notiert), ich bekam aber die Auskunft dass wir das Gepäck an der Stoosbahn Talstation fübergeben sollen. Ansonsten hat der Gepäcktransport gut geklappt. Ein Tip: Badehosen ins Handgepäck nehmen (See oder Wellness Rigi Kaltbad) Die Wanderrouten waren aussichtstechnisch sehr gut gewählt. Es gilt aber zu beachten, dass bei einer Familienwanderung der Schwierigkeitsgrad nicht zu hoch sein sollte, bzw. dies in den Unterlagen beschrieben werden müsste: Gratwanderweg Klingenstock nach Fronalpstock bei Regen ist hier vorsicht geboten. Alles sehr rutschig und wir hatten am Ende noch Nebel da kann es gut sein dass man sich zu nahe an die Felswand begibt. Rigi Kaltbad nach Seebodenalp: da hat es mehrere Leitern auf dem Talweg, welche teilweise sehr steil sind. Bei kleinen Kindern ist hier Vorsicht geboten und unseren Hund musste ich bei 2 Leitern Schultern um nach unten zu gelangen. Bei den anderen fand der Hund einen Weg durchs Unterholz. Ansonsten waren die Wege top gewählt mit immer speziellen Aussichten auf den Vierwalsstättersee oder Umgebung. Hinweis zum Zweiten Tag Brunnen - Burggeist: wenn man da noch bei Victoinox vorbeischaut kommt man erst am Abend an. Die Strecke zieht sich... man sollte nicht zu spät mit der Wanderung beginnen. Wichtig: Verpflegung mitnehmen, unterwegs gibt es ausser bei der Bergstation kein offenes Restaurant mehr.
