The jagged peaks of Les Diablerets that tower majestically over the Vaud Alps are also known as "devil horns". On the way to this summit, you feel a moment of heaven on Lake Geneva. Grapevines flatter the eye and castles rise majestically along the way. You could feel like cursing devilishly on the way to the Col de la Croix, but the idyllic landscape compensates for the sweat demanded by the climb up into the Vaud Alps.
The next paradise awaits you after the devilish pass. The ride through the green hills of the Saanenland and the balloons that float almost daily over Château-d'Oex will inspire you to dream. Not purgatory, but the occasional muffled bang of a cannon awaits you afterwards at Lac de l'Hongrin. Heaven and hell lie close together in the Vaud Alps and both are devilishly beautiful.
Luggage drop-off in Lausanne. You pass by the highlights of the Lake Geneva region today like a slide show. The first stop is the Lavaux vineyards, followed by a walk along the lake promenade of Montreux. This is followed by the moated castle of Chillon and the vine-framed Aigle castle. A day as if from a picture book.
You climb upward today after yesterday's flat stretch. You ride along the Rhone to Bex first and then begins your ride up to the Col de la Croix. An idyllic pass road leads you into the Vaud Alps. The peaks of Les Diablerets and La Pare tower before you at the top of the pass. A brisk descent takes you to the destination of today.
The Col du Pillon will probably not frighten you today after yesterday's pass crossing. After the jagged summit, the green hills of the Saanenland with their pompous farmhouses will make you feel even more idyllic. A short stop in glamorous Gstaad and then along the Sarine River to the balloonists' capital: Château-d'Oex.
Time to turn your back on the tranquil Saanenland. After Montbovon you follow a small road on an adventurous route to Lac de l'Hongrin. Travelling through a 300-meter-long tunnel illuminated only occasionally by a few boreholes is a highlight on the way to this reservoir. Cowbells greet you at Lac de l'Hongrin before a last rapid descent takes you back down into the Rhone valley. Individual departure from Aigle.

The ride over the Col de la Croix is spectacular, but it also requires good physical condition. The last stretch to Lac de l'Hongrin is also difficult to ride. The natural roads and especially the "Les Agites" tunnel are for experienced cyclists.
