Itinerary

Individual arrival in Engelhartszell, approximately 30 km from Passau. Boarding will be around 4:00 pm. Overnight in Engelhartszell.

In Engelhartszell (Austria's only Trappist monastery) the bike tour begins through the romantic river landscape of the Donauschlinge, one of the most beautiful stretches of the Danube with dreamy villages at the foot of lush green forested slopes. In Aschach you will get back on board and continue the journey by ship.

Today there is time to discover the beauties of Vienna: Perhaps the Hofburg, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the magnificent boulevard Ringstrasse with the State Opera, the Burgtheater or the City Hall? At night boat trip to Budapest.

In the early morning, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Danube's gorgeous landscape from the sun deck. The gateway to Budapest is overwhelming, as many of the famous tourist features are situated directly next to the river bank. In the afternoon you can explore the city on a city tour by coach and by foot (optional). Nearby, you find the Margaretheninsel which is outstandingly qualified for a small bike tour or the charming town of Szentendre with Mediterranean atmosphere and lively art life. In the evening you can enjoy Budapest by night with folklore program (opt.) In the night, you cruise to to Visegrad.

The bike tour through the Danube Bend is also an excursion into the history of Hungary. From the former royal seat of Visegrad, you cycle through the picturesque, gently rolling countryside over the Szentendre Peninsula to the baroque town of Vác with Hungary's only triumphal arch. Via small Hungarian villages you return to Visegrad. In the afternoon boat trip to Bratislava.

Arrival by ship in Bratislava in the morning. Discover today the small lively capital of Slovakia. Tip: Enjoy a magnificent panoramic view from the Bratislava Castle and take a ride on the vintage train through the enchanting old town. Alternatively, explore the city during a guided bike tour. At night boat trip from Bratislava to the beautiful Wachau.

Your last day's cycle tour is a special highlight! Amidst small dreamy villages, apricot trees, vineyards, castles, monasteries and ruins, this gentle hilly landscape enchants everybody. A powerful ruin looms above the small Baroque town of Dürnstein, while the blue tower of the monastery church is a landmark of Wachau. In Spitz (possibility for a wine-tasting – optional) you will find comfy wine taverns right along the bike path. You owe it to yourself to take a break! You’ll board again in the small village Pöchlarn. After the farewell gala dinner, you start “sailing” back to Engelhartszell.

You will arrive in Engelhartszell relaxed and well-rested at around 9:00 a.m. Disembarkation follows, then individual journey home. We recommend booking train connections from Passau from around 12:00 p.m. onwards.
