Hiking: Trans Swiss Trail
Biosphere, Hermit, Rütli Oath
Discover the Emmental in all its glory. Starting from the main village of the Emmental, you hike into the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Entlebuch. You spend idyllic nights in Schangnau and Sörenberg and reach the lakes of Central Switzerland.
This is a pleasant place to stay and the hermit Niklaus von Flüe spent the last twenty years of his life here. Historically, the tour continues to Stans with the oldest settlement in Nidwalden and a detour to the Rütli meadow. On the shores of the Lake of Uri, a picturesque rock path leads you to the Reuss plain.
High-altitude hike over the Hohwacht-Girsgrat range of hills. Along the way, a historic signal post, a cheese dairy that is guaranteed to produce genuine Emmental cheese and one of the oldest tunnels in Switzerland. Typical Emmental patchwork of harrows, ditches, meadows and woods.
Ridge walk on the west flank of the Pfyffer. On the Wachthubel, breathtaking views of the Schrattenflue and Hohgant pre-Alpine bastions. On the descent you will come across black buffalo. They have made Schangnau famous for its mozzarella.
Wild and romantic hiking route through the valley of the young Emme. Impressive the rock faces of Hohgant and Schrattenflue, interesting the former bathhouse in Kemmeriboden-Bad. The wetlands near Sörenberg made the Entlebuch a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
Rewarding tour over the Glaubenbielen pass with great views of the Sarnersee and Titlis summits. From time to time you meet the pass road, but you will also find quiet sections at Alpoglen or the Pörterwald.
Train journey to Sachseln and from Lake Sarnen steeply up to the Flüeli-Ranft pilgrimage site, where the hermit Niklaus von Flüe worked in seclusion in a gorge as a man of God, visionary, admonisher and advisor.
The house where he was born is one of the oldest wooden houses in Switzerland. Continue along the side of the Stanserhorn, which you almost walk around. The Winkelried monument is located in Stans.
A lake promenade along Lake Lucerne leads from Beckenried to the imposing Risleten Gorge, where ancient dinosaur tracks can be found. After a steep ascent, a romantic high-altitude trail in the direction of Seelisberg. Deep down, the green-blue lake shimmers.
This stage follows the Swiss Path down to Seedorf, which leads from the Rütli via Flüelen to Brunnen. On the descent to Bauen you can see the whole route and the Rütli. Interesting castles and stately homes along the way.
