Road cycling holiday Valais Velo Tour from Sion to the Goms valley

Racing bike: Wallis tour from Sion to the Goms

Highlights of the Valais Alps

Panoramic pass roads and sunny valley slopes make Valais a perfect region for a bike tour. You climb up to the world-famous Crans-Montana from the castles of Sion. You reach the Walser villages in Goms after a bathing stop in Leuk and a swift ride past the Stockalper castle in Brig.

The highest passes in the Alps are now within reach. You will climb the Gotthard, Nufenen and Grimsel Pass and then visit the dreamy valleys of the Rhone Valley. A racing bike trip like out of a picture book.

Itinerary

Hand over your luggage in Sion. Continue unencumbered along the sunny valley climbing up to Mayens. A swift descent to Grimisuat, only to face the next climb. Cool off at the end of this first round by jumping into the mountain lakes of Crans-Montana.

You start your trip today with a short climb. You climb up to Colombire and can visit the Alps museum there. This is followed by a swift descent to the banks of the Rhone. A steady climb then takes you up to Leukerbad.

Leuk, Brig, Fiesch – you will be passing some of the most famous places in Valais today. Small detours along the sides of the valley make the journey through the Rhone Valley attractive. In the afternoon you reach the sunbeaten Walser villages in Goms.

The most beautiful Alpine passes can be reached quickly from Oberwald. You climb high into the rocky world of the Nufenen pass and whoosh down to Airolo. The following ride up to Gotthard Pass is over cobblestones along the countless serpentine curves and challenges you.

You can relax while descending to Hospental. And then it's time for a challenge again, because the Furka Pass at the end of the journey is really tough.

You follow the Rhone route again at the beginning, and it leads you past the most beautiful villages of the Goms.

However, the tour is not quite that easy, as a detour into the Binn Valley is on the agenda. The picturesque return journey to Brig is the successful conclusion of your journey through Upper Valais.

Two valleys and an alp are on the program today. You roll comfortably into the Vispertal first - the ascent up to the Moosalp is less comfortable.

You can take a breather during the following descent down to Leuk. The ride up to the picturesque Val d'Anniviers is the perfect end for today.

approx. 90 km

This valley is much too beautiful to leave right away. You roll past Grimentz on quiet roads and then climb along the valley up to Vercorin. Enjoy the view of the Rhone Valley and the cities of Sierre and Sion.

The tour takes you to Val d'Hérens. A final short climb over the rooftops of Sion concludes the biking trip through Valais.

Characteristic

A unique scenery awaits you in Valais. Surrounded by the most beautiful and highest peaks of the Swiss Alps, you will visit some of the most famous valleys and passes of Switzerland.

You ride on asphalted roads throughout your journey. Some traffic must be taken into account near town and city centres. The ride over the Alpine passes on the fifth day poses a significant challenge in terms of fitness.
